While many of its US independent peers have said they will let production slide lower this year, Pioneer Natural Resources continues to buck the trend, hitting record production in the first quarter. The Dallas-based company's output averaged 222,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (55% oil) in the first three months of the year, beating its own expectations by almost 3%.
