Russia Boosts July Crude Exports

Russian oil producers keep ramping up crude exports, largely as a result of higher eastbound shipments, despite the bearish oil market. Russian crude oil exports outside the former Soviet Union in July averaged 4.16 million b/d (17.57 million metric tons), up a robust 8.6% on the year as a result of higher shipments via the system of national oil pipeline operator Transneft. Exports to neighboring Kazakhstan and Belarus also grew slightly to 474,800 b/d as opposed to 460,450 b/d a year ago.
