WPX Adds More Acreage in Gallup Oil Play

Natural gas producer WPX Energy said it has reached a deal to expand its position in the emerging Gallup oil play in the San Juan Basin of New Mexico and Colorado. Tulsa, Oklahoma-based WPX said it paid about $26 million to an unnamed seller for 14,300 net acres in the oil window of the Gallup Sandstone, which is primarily located in the northwestern corner of New Mexico along the border with Colorado.
