Noble Extends Reach of Colorado Drilling Program

Noble Energy may be just four months into its 2014 drilling program, but it has already overhauled its plans for Colorado's Denver-Julesberg (DJ) Basin to prioritize extendedreach horizontal wells. Noble said on Thursday it plans to drill 96 extended-reach horizontal wells in the basin this year--65% more than it had originally anticipated. The revised plans will particularly favor wells with lateral lengths in the 9,000-foot range, with the number of such wells more than doubling to 66. The number of "medium" wells with lateral lengths around 7,000 feet will rise by two to 30.
