Penn West Focuses Spending On Core Light Oil Plays

Penn West Petroleum is adopting a "less is more" approach to spending and drilling this year as it seeks to use its capital more efficiently and reap the benefits of nfrastructure upgrades it has made over the past two years. The company -- which boasts the largest light oil reserves in Western Canada -- is also seeking to regain the confidence of investors after a year of poor share price performance, which led to the departure of its chief operating officer and three vice presidents in November (OD Nov.8'12).
