A Canadian company has figured out a way of getting oil sands bitumen to the US without building a contentious cross-border pipeline. Calgary-based US Oil Sands says it is set to become the first company to start commercial production of oil sands bitumen in the US next year after gaining approval from the state of Utah to produce an initial 2,000 barrels per day from its PR Spring project.
