Former Algerian oil chief Chakib Khelil has issued a statement saying that he "did no wrongdoing" in performing his duties as a minister and allegations that he benefited materially are "pure fabrication." Khelil instead claimed that, "During my tenure as a minister, to my knowledge all contracts were awarded according to the bidding procedures established by the companies of the sector."
