Rising domestic output of light, sweet crude and growing supplies from Canada will give US refineries a "permanent advantage" over plants based in other countries as they continue to reap the benefits of discounted feedstock, according to a new study from refinery consultants Turner, Mason & Co. The US refining industry will try to run as much light domestic crude as possible and might even add up to 150,000 barrels per day of additional capacity in the next few years, the Dallas-based firm says in the report titled North American Crude and Condensate Outlook: 2013-2022.
