Nordgold Q1 net profits drop 30% to 60 million dollars

Nordgold saw its first-quarter net profits drop 29.5% year-on-year to 59.7 million dollars from 84.7 million dollars in Q 1 2011, the company reported. Analysts surveyed by Interfax yesterday predicted a drop to 51 million dollars. Earnings before taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) for the three months were down 15.5% at 114.2 million dollars (the analysts predicted 117 million dollars), but sales revenues were up -as expected - by 8.1% at 263.9 million dollars.
