Senegal mulls PSAs for heavy mineral and gold projects

SENEGAL said it is considering introducing Production Sharing Agreements (PSAs), similar to those used in the oil and gas sector, for a range of commodities that would allow its government to sell up to 10% of a project's production to the market. "We are going to target, maybe, the most valuable minerals, like the heavy minerals," Ousmane Cisse, director of mines at geology at the mining ministry, told Mining Journal. He added that the West African nation would consider also bringing in a similar arrangement for gold.
