Vale announces 2.3 billion US dollars spending on green projects

VALE SA has initiated two major environmental projects, one in emissions reduction and the other for renewable energy, worth about US$2.3 billion in total. At its nickel smelter in Sudbury, the company held an official ground-breaking ceremony for the C$2 billion (US$1.95 billion) Clean Atmospheric Emissions Reduction (AER) project, which will see sulphur dioxide production reduced by 70% from current levels.
