Duncan Lake iron-ore study estimates 3.8 billion US dollars cost

A PRELIMINARY economic assessment (PEA) of the Duncan Lake iron-ore project in northern Quebec estimates initial capital expenditure of C$3.8 billion (US$3.8 billion) for a mine that would extract over 800Mt of resources over a 20-year period. The study, prepared by Met-Chem Canada Inc, proposed a project producing 12Mt/y of 66.3% Fe pellet product from deposits number three and four at C$59.17/t.
