Harmony cuts gold production but Randgold output grows

HARMONY Gold Mining Company Ltd, South Africa's third-largest gold producer, cut its output guidance for the current financial year, citing safety-related stoppages and a restructuring of its Bambanani operations. The company, which had seven fatalities at its operations in the final three months of 2011, reduced its FY12 production guidance to 1.35Mozfrom its initial 1.4SMoz-1.55Moz target. It produced 672,754oz in the first half of its fiscal year to end-June.
