BHP Billiton wins tax battle

BHP Billiton has won a court battle against the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) worth US$580 million with regard to its former hot briquetted iron (HBI) project in Boodarie. The case stems from a 2005 ATO tax bill of A$935.5 million . (US$996.6 million) relating to the HBI plant and another ill-fated operation, the Beenup mineral-sands project.
