Gulf joint venture will build 150,000 tpy Al rod plant in UAE

Abu Dhabi Basic Industries Corp (ADBIC) and Bahrain's Midal Cables have signed a joint venture agreement to establish a 150,000 tpy aluminum rod and conductor plant in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The 100 million dollars plant will produce aluminium rod and electrical overhead conductors for export, as well as the domestic market, ADBIC said. Construction of the plant in Taweelah's industrial zone between Dubai and Abu Dhabi is expected to start in the first quarter of 2010.
