Rio and BHP both committed to iron ore joint venture, Argus says

BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto will sign a binding agreement on their proposed iron ore production joint venture "shortly", BHP Billiton chairman Don Argus told the company's agm in Brisbane. He dismissed speculation that either party could walk away from the 116 billion dollars plan to unite their Pilbara iron ore operations. "That's not the case within both parties," he told delegates. "And that's certainly not the case from a majority of shareholders. They want to see this go through."
