PHILADELPHIA - China's crackdown on non-ferrous scrap imports (MB June 3) has led to speculation over its impact among executives in the US secondary metals industry.Since 1997, China has been the largest offshore consumer of US-generated copper scrap. Over the past five years, exports to China form the USA have soared, and through to May Chinese smelters were on course to purchase 300,000 short tons of copper scrap this year.
