HR coil imports exceed Chinese quota limit

SINGAPORE -- Importers are feeling the effects of China's steel safeguard restrictions after a host of new products smashed through their respective quota limits in early August.Hot rolled coil, galvanized sheet, slab, wire rod, cold formed bar and stainless cold rolled sheet have all exceeded their import limits, according to the latest data released by the Customs General Administration of China. Steel plate became the first product to pass its limit at the end of July and is now subject to a 20 percent import tariff.
