Aluminium Corp of China (Chalco) is poised to set in motion a restructuring programme at its 50:50 joint venture with Alcoa, Pingguo Aluminium.The restructuring could see the loss of over 500 jobs at Pingguo, as well as a realignment of the company's operational structure. The Guangxi province refinery and smelter, in which Chalco ceded a 50 percent stake to Alcoa after signing in November, will start to implement the business plan later this month.
