UK copper scrap trade sees promising start to 2002

The new year has begun positively for UK copper and brass scrap traders, who encountered an escalating LME copper price on their return to work last week.The 50-60 pounds per tonne increase in the cash copper price triggered rises of around 30 pounds per tonne in the prices of higher quality grades of scrap. No 1 bright wire was trading at 960-990 pounds per tonne, white No 2 copper changed hands at 820-870 pounds per tonne.
