EBRD and Norsk Hydro move closer to signing Slovalco deal

Norway's Norsk Hydro and the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development (BRD) will sign a contract handing them a majority stake in Slovalco at the end of this month, according to the chairman of the current Slovak aluminium smelter's owners, the state-run ZSNP group.The apparently done deal may come as a blow to Alcoa which was reported recently as having made a late bid to buy Slovaico or ZSNP which has a 75.5 percent share in the smelter (MB Mar 5).
