Anti-biotech advocacy groups file amicus brief in Monsanto seed saving case

The Center for Food Safety (CFS) and Save our Seeds (SOS) on Monday filed a 56-page "friend of the court" brief () in relation to the forthcoming U.S. Supreme Court case, Bowman v. Monsanto (11-796), arguing against Monsanto's policy of prohibiting farmers from saving patented seeds. The U.S. Supreme Court in October agreed to hear an appeal by Indiana farmer Vernon Bowman challenging Monsanto's patent rights on "second generation" biotech soybean seeds, disregarding a recommendation by the Obama administration to pass on the case (see FCN Oct. 12, 2012, Page 6).
