Industry committee drafts recommendations to speed FDA border reviews

Representatives of a coalition of food, drug and transportation industry groups will meet June 30 with FDA officials to present more than a dozen recommendations on ways to overcome processing delays at border crossings for FDA-regulated products.Chief among the recommendations: Explore ways to expand public-private partnership programs, such as the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act's (FSMA) Voluntary Qualified Importer Program (VQIP).
