China making slow progress with USDA equivalency

In his second report to Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.), Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack says Chinese officials are making progress in establishing equivalency at their poultry processing plants, but the trade barrier on exporting those products to the United States won't be lifted any time soon.As required every 180 days by the 2010 Agriculture Appropriations Act, Vilsack delivered his report on Aug. 17 to DeLauro, chair of the House agriculture appropriations subcommittee, regarding the state of China's efforts to gain permission to ship processed poultry products to the U.S.
