FSIS proposes donning/doffing rule, forgets lunch

USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service on Aug. 9 published in the Federal Register a proposal that would require paying inspectors for the time it takes to put on and remove hats, goggles, aprons, or any other apparel needed at the beginning and end of each work day.Plants would have the option of allowing inspectors to arrive at their posts a few minutes later and leave a few minutes before the end of their shift to avoid paying for overtime, the proposed rule states.
