Sulphur prices decrease on lacklustre demand

A range of price decreases was recorded across global sulphur markets this week, although overall spot market activity was limited. Aramco posted its February price at $115/mt FOB, down $13/mt from its January level, though many buyers and traders argued that the price was still too high to encourage buying. However, although Middle East spot levels were assessed slightly lower again on the week, sellers were mostly committed and were in no rush to offer below their official prices. Meanwhile, some contracts for Q1 2016 sulphur supply from the Middle East have been settled in the $115-120/mt FOB range, sources confirmed.
