USA: Imports jump to open new US crop year

US imports of MAP and DAP jumped substantially in the first month of the US fertilizer year compared to one year earlier, according to data provided by the US Department of Commerce. Credit for the increase belongs in part to the thin US supply chain at the end of the spring and to the reluctance of some other markets, especially Brazil, to commit to greater purchases.
