China: Sulphur price slump surprises market

In the last two to three weeks the sulphur market in China has fallen further than many had expected. At ports on the Yangtze River, the price has declined more than RMB 100 ($15) in the last two weeks, to RMB 970/mt. This week's announcement of Adnoc's January price at $122/mt FOB showed that international suppliers were following prices in China. The Adnoc price equates to $134/mt CFR China. If importers can place cargoes in warehouses at port, the price would equate to roughly RMB 1,070/mt, a premium on prices along the Yangtze River.
