Contracted volumes for Indian buyers as part of the $322/mt contract have now essentially been delivered and talks are likely to start shortly for a new contract. The potash nutrient-based subsidy is likely to be unchanged following India’s budget announcement last weekend, despite an increase in P&K fertilizer production costs in recent months. With strong demand expected in the year ahead, and buying anticipated in the fertilizer year beginning April of as much as 4.5 million mt, buyers are pushing for rollover prices.
