Trinidad and Tobago: Sharply lower urea values lead PotashCorp to cut output

PotashCorp has idled its granular urea unit, the only such plant in Trinidad and Tobago, starting this month in favor of selling more ammonia into the export market. The driver behind the decision is the plunging value of urea versus ammonia globally. Returns on new urea sales to some of Trinidad's key markets in North and South America arguably would be as little as $240/mt FOB, given values in those markets.
