US imports maintained lead over prior year in January

US January UAN imports outpaced arrivals one year earlier, keeping US imports for the first seven months of its fertilizer year ahead of the prior year period, according to data from the US Department of Commerce. January UAN imports were 332,839 st (301,950 mt), compared to 287,801 st (261,091 mt) in January 2014. Key suppliers in January of this year included Russia at 103,322 st, Trinidad and Tobago at 73,405 st and China at 71,631 st. The January arrivals brought total US imports for the first seven months of the current fertilizer year to 1.97 million st (1.79 million mt), up from 1.56 million st (1.41 million mt). Key suppliers during the most recent period included Russia at 701,632 st, Trinidad and Tobago at 462,649 st and Canada at 266,435 st.
