The ongoing disruption to Northwest Europe has continued this week, as the Rhine remains partially closed, with only a small number of vessels permitted southbound. Presently there are some 300 vessels reportedly backed-up. The impact on supplies downstream has seen major industrial firms such as BASF forced to reduce production. However, spot sales carried out this week have ensured that disruption has been minimised.
