BPC announced a price increase this week of $25/mt to $535/mt CFR for new spot sales of standard grade MOP. The increase is later and smaller than originally planned due to recent turmoil in financial markets and signs of an economic slowdown, said BPC. If demand is healthy there will be another increase in December. The new price is expected to become effective for shipments during the fourth quarter. BPC foresees a slowdown in shipments to the region in September and October as inventories of material bought at lower prices are consumed. Shipments from BPC at $510/mt CFR are scheduled to end in September.
