Syngenta mulls sale to ChemChina; BASF, Monsanto, Bayer also listed as suitors

Syngenta AG continues to be courted by a number of companies who are seeking to purchase the Swiss agrichemical giant, but the current front-runner is reported to be a state-owned Chinese company. Bloomberg reported last week that Syngenta's board has signaled its support for a potential sale to China National Chemical Corp. (ChemChina) after ChemChina increased its bid to $472 per share, or approximately $44 billion, for an initial purchase of a 70'percent share of Syngenta with an option to buy the remainder of the company at a later date.
