CF 3Q earnings off 44 percent; YTD holds firm; 90 M acres of corn seen for 2015

CF Industries Holdings Inc. reported third-quarter net earnings attributable to common shareholders of $130.9 million ($2.62 per diluted share) on sales of $921.4 million, compared to the year-ago $234.1 million ($4.07 per share) and $1.1 billion, respectively. CF said a 6 percent increase in nitrogen volumes during the third quarter (half of which was ammonia contracted to The Mosaic Co.) was partially offset by marginally lower realized prices.
