Statoil has sealed a deal to acquire Wintershall’s 25% stake in the Byrding project in Production Licence 090B (PL 090B) on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS). Once the deal closes, Statoil will increase its equity in Byrding from 45% to 70%. Byrding is an oil and gas discovery in the Norwegian North Sea and is operated by Statoil. The field is near the Troll /Fram field area, which “represents a focal point of Norway’s oil and gas production”, Statoil noted.
