Statoil buys Wintershall’s 25pc stake in Byrding field

Norway’s state-controlled Statoil has signed an agreement to buy German oil firm Wintershall’s 25pc stake in the Byrding oil and gas field offshore Norway. Byrding is located near the Troll-Fram area in the North Sea. Statoil’s share in the field will increase to 70pc from 45pc. Recoverable reserves are estimated at about 11mn bl of oil equivalent (boe), Statoil says.
