Ophir Energy and partner BG have spudded the first of three wells planned on two blocks offshore Tanzania. BG spudded the Mzai-1 well in Block 1 on 1 January, said partner Ophir. UK big hitter BG operates Blocks 1, 3 and 4 offshore Tanzania with a 60% stake. The Odfjell Metro-1 drillship is being used to drill the well, which should take around 10 days.
