Mexico's state-owned Pemex has kicked off a 170- well tender for the Chicontepec oil region where Mexico plans to be producing up to 700,000 b/d by 2017. Chicontepec covers three states in northern Mexico and can help offset declining output from the country's maturing oil fields. Pemex plans to decide on the winner on 7 April, with work starting in early May and lasting two years.
