New Santos Chief Vows Return to Pioneering Past

New Santos Chief Executive Kevin Gallagher has vowed to take a "disciplined approach" in an effort to turn the struggling Australian company's fortunes around and restore value to its long-suffering shareholders. In his first annual general meeting since taking the helm in February, when he replaced David Knox, Gallagher told shareholders Wednesday it was "disappointing" that Santos recorded an overall loss of A$2.7 billion (US$1.9 billion) last year but he is committed to "recapturing the values of our pioneering past--the drive, the focus and the self-belief that saw Santos develop the Cooper Basin."
