Nord Stream Repairs See Gazprom Turn to Ukraine

Russia's Gazprom has requested an increase in gas deliveries to Europe via Ukraine by 20% due to summer repairs on the Nord Stream pipeline system, Ukraine's transmission operator said Tuesday. Ukrtransgaz said Gazprom on Monday sent it a nomination to deliver some 275 MMcm/d to Europe -- a transmission volume not seen for several years in Ukraine. The Ukrainian firm said it was prepared to fulfill the nomination but that by late morning on Tuesday, the Russians had failed to carry out the necessary pressure balancing at gas measuring points between the two countries.
