US condensates exports may have mostly broken free from the restraints of US government restrictions, but they face a harder-than-expected slog to reach the Asia-Pacific. Much of US condensates are not light enough to run in Asian splitters and are likely to struggle to compete with Mideast condensates. Moreover, US condensate tankers are generally unable to use the Panama Canal shortcut to Asia, which significantly increases freight costs, undermining their competitiveness.
