Marathon: Lower Costs Pave Way for Strong Oil Growth

Marathon Oil says it has been so successful in driving down costs that its US unconventional oil and gas output should grow roughly 20% in 2015 despite big reductions in capital spending. A 20% increase would equate to 217,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day of output from Marathon's three US unconventional focus areas -- the Eagle Ford in South Texas, the Bakken in North Dakota, and Oklahoma. The same trio delivered 181,000 boe/d in 2014.
