Latest vehicle sales figures show no discernible backlash against diesel in Europe in the wake of the Volkswagen emissions cheating scandal, with diesel's share of regional passenger car sales actually rising last month. Preliminary estimates from UK-based consultancy LMC Automotive show diesel's share of new light vehicle sales reaching 51.7% in November, up from 51.2% in October. Many of those would have been ordered after the VW scandal broke, according to LMC senior researcher Al Bedwell, and buck the recent trend in Europe (IOD Nov.18'15).
