JX Nippon's Malaysian Field Delayed

Japan's JX Nippon is facing a delay of at least six months to the start-up of its 75%-owned Layang oil and gas field in Block SK10 off the Malaysian state of Sarawak (IOD May13'14). Sources said delivery of an anchor production facility for Layang, a leased floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel from Malaysian fabricator TH Heavy Engineering, will be delayed by at least six months. This will potentially push back first production from Layang, previously planned for the second quarter of this year, to late 2016 or even early 2017.
