Gazprom Neft Launches Iraqi Field

Russia's Gazprom Neft has started initial output at Iraq's 3 billion bbl Badra oil field, which the firm is developing in partnership with Korea Gas, Malaysia's Petronas and Turkey's TPAO. Gazprom Neft, the oil arm of state Gazprom, said first oil, which was originally scheduled to begin in August or September of last year, began flowing on May 31. However, the field cannot be declared fully commercial until output stays at 15,000 b/d for 90 days--an initial project level agreed by the Badra consortium led by the Russian major and Iraqi government.
