Indonesia Proposes Creation of Gas Distribution Giant

Indonesia plans to merge national oil firm Pertamina with top natural gas distributor PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) in a move state-owned enterprises minister Dahlan Iskan says will create a "giant energy company for the country." Iskan said there were two possible scenarios. The first would be for PGN to acquire Pertamina subsidiary PT Perta Gas, which runs its parent's gas business, and for Pertamina to then acquire PGN. The second scenario would see Pertamina acquire PGN directly, Iskan said in statement last week.
