US Blacklists Myanmar Official

blacklisted Aung Thaung, a senior official in the Myanmar government, for "intentionally undermining the positive political and economic transition" there. The department has added him to a list of around 100 individuals who are prohibited from transacting or doing business with Americans or US firms in Myanmar (IOD Oct.23'14). Aung Thaung, an industry minister under the former military government, is now a member of Myanmar's lower house of parliament for the ruling Union Solidarity and Development Party, and a businessman.
