Call for Extra Opec Meeting Unheeded So Far

As oil prices continue to tumble, Venezuela has been pressing for Opec oil ministers to meet ahead of their scheduled gathering on Nov. 27. But so far the other 11 members have not agreed to hold an extraordinary meeting. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro wants Opec ministers to convene ahead of their regular meeting in Vienna, now that the price of Brent crude has dropped well below $90 per barrel. According to Venezuela's foreign ministry, former oil minister Rafael Ramirez, now the country's foreign minister, has stated that "the price of oil is important for our country, and we'll start actions to stop its fall."
