Gudrun Ends Statoil's Nine-Year Gap

Norway's Gudrun platform in the North Sea, which started producing oil and gas this April, was officially opened by Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg on Tuesday (IOD Apr.8'14). It is the first Statoil-operated platform offshore Norway to open since Kristin in 2005 (IOD Jan.10'14). But it is also first in a long line of Statoil-operated new field developments. Next is Valemon, which is due for start-up later this year, then Gina Krog and Johan Sverdrup in the central North Sea, followed by Aasta Hansteen and Johan Castberg offshore northern Norway (EIF Apr.23'14).
